What’s in store for Enstore?

We’re still here and we’re working harder than ever, but because it’s sometimes hard to see what we’re doing exactly, we want to give you an inside status update about Enstore’s development.

When we started with Enstore less than a year ago, the first step was to make Enstore available as an extension for Checkout – our point of sale software – and later we made it an extension for AccountEdge too. Enstore has shown great potential ever since we started it. There are thousands of signups and literally hundreds of actively selling, beautiful stores to look after. Helping all these users getting set up and fixing the occasional bug is what we do every day.

But the thing that’s keeping us really busy is developing a completely new, standalone version of Enstore. Standalone means that the app will work without the need for additional software such as Checkout or AccountEdge. This way everybody can use Enstore to create their own web store. This has always been the idea behind Enstore, and we are currently working hard on realizing this.

This means a lot of work for our team. Not only because Sofa is a company that focuses on delivering high-quality apps with great features, but also because we want to release the standalone version within the next couple of months.

While half of our team is working hard to develop the new standalone version, the rest is preparing new and improved documentation, extra templates – including mobile optimized ones – and the billing system so we can get out of beta.

Next to all of this we’re creating the biggest extra of all: an iPhone app for Enstore. We think it’s going to be a great addition to the standalone app. The idea behind it is that you can deal with your store away from your computer. We don’t want to say anything else about the iPhone app just yet, but you’ll get more information on it soon.

After releasing the new version of Enstore we will focus entirely on requested features, like inventory sync, customer login, bundles/ladder prices, customizable checkout pages, coupons and more payment processors. It’s hard to predict dates for all of these but with the entire team we expect to move pretty quickly.

With this update we hope to have answered a lot of questions about what’s going on behind the scenes. If you have any questions about the current version of Enstore, feel free to contact us via our support site.
